UED Opportunities for Dynamical Imaging of Materials

America/Denver
Description

Modern accelerator technology can provide new beam parameters that enable unexplored opportunities for material science experiments utilizing ultrafast electron diffraction (UED). Los Alamos National Lab (LANL) is highly motivated to leverage this capability to build a cutting-edge UED facility.

We are organizing a workshop on “UED Opportunities for Dynamical Imaging of Materials” from the 6th of November to the 8th of November 2023. This workshop is hosted by LANL and will be held in Hilton Santa Fe, New Mexico. The workshop is divided into two halves: The first half (1.5 days) starting from the 6th of November is dedicated to material science, and the second half (1 day) is for accelerator science. The main objective of this workshop is to discuss the opportunity for the materials science community for a MeV state-of-the-art electron diffraction machine. It is possible to produce ultrafast, ultrabright relativistic electron bunches for the use of electron diffraction.  The material science section of the workshop will be centered around condensed matter, atomic molecular and optical, and materials in extreme conditions. Each session will consist of three keynote speakers with an open discussion to follow.

Location: Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza, Santa Fe, NM

Conference Room: Canyon Ballroom
