Description

This one-day symposium celebrates the discovery of the J/psi resonance, which launched the modern era of particle physics.

The symposium will review the lead-up to the discovery, the observations from BNL, SLAC, and Frascati, and the continuing influence of this discovery, with reminiscences from many of the participants.

Speakers will include:   Michael Riordan, Thomas Appelquist, Robert Hollebeek, Sau Lan Wu, Martin Breidenbach, Marcello Piccolo, Charles Morehouse, Gary Feldman, JoAnne Hewett, Fred Gilman

The meeting will be web-cast at the following Zoom link:

If you plan to attend in-person, please note this on the registration form.

Brookhaven National Laboratory will also celebrate the J/ψ discovery with a symposium on November 22.  Please see https://www.bnl.gov/decadeofdiscovery/   .

Please note that, on the following day, Nov. 9, SLAC will host a memorial symposium in honor of James Bjorken.   For details, see
