Transportation to Kyushu
You may either fly into the Fukuoka airport or take a Shinkansen (bullet train) to the Hakata station. Attendees from the U.S. may look into an option to fly into any airport and transfer to another flight to the Fukuoka airport. Alternatively, you may fly into the Kansai international airport, and then take a train to Fukuoka. The train from Osaka to Hakata takes about 2 hours 40 minutes and 16,000 JPY (or roughly 100 USD).
Accommodation
There aren't many hotels around the Nishijin Plaza. We recommend staying around either Tenjin Station or Hakata Station.
Transportation to the venue (Nishijin Plaza on Sep 28, 29, and Oct 1)
- From either Hakata Station or Tenjin Station, take the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line (toward Meinohama / Chikuzen-Maebaru) and get off at Nishijin Station. No transfer is required. For example, the following trains are available:

- Hakata 8:50 (Tenjin 8:57) → Nishijin 9:05
- Hakata 8:53 (Tenjin 8:59) → Nishijin 9:07
- Hakata 8:56 (Tenjin 9:02) → Nishijin 9:09
- Hakata 9:00 (Tenjin 9:07) → Nishijin 9:15
- Nishijin Plaza is about a 10-minute walk (approximately 600 m) from Nishijin Station. Please use Exit 7.
- When you arrive at Nishijin Plaza, please come to Conference Room A (大会議室A) on the second floor.
Transportation to the venue (Ito Campus on Sep 30 and Oct 2)
(1) Recommended: Subway/JR + Showa Bus
From Hakata or Tenjin Station, take the Fukuoka City Subway Airport Line (toward Chikuzen-Maebaru / Nishi-Karatsu) and get off at Kyudai-Gakkentoshi Station. (Trains bound for Chikuzen-Maebaru or Nishi-Karatsu continue directly onto the JR Chikuhi Line, so no transfer is required at Meinohama Station. Please note that trains terminating at Meinohama do not go to Kyudai-Gakkentoshi Station.)
From Kyudai-Gakkentoshi Station, take a Showa Bus bound for Kyushu University and get off at Kyudai Big Orange (九大ビッグオレンジ前). The meeting room is about a 2-minute walk from the bus stop.
For the 9:30 meeting start, the following connections from Hakata Station may be convenient:
- Hakata 8:27 (Tenjin 8:33) → Kyudai-Gakkentoshi 8:57 → Showa Bus 9:03 → Kyudai Big Orange 9:14
- Hakata 8:36 (Tenjin 8:42) → Kyudai-Gakkentoshi 9:06 → Showa Bus 9:12 → Kyudai Big Orange 9:23
(2) Alternative: Taxi from Kyudai-Gakkentoshi Station
You can also take a taxi from Kyudai-Gakkentoshi Station directly to the meeting venue at Ito Campus. The ride takes approximately 10 minutes and typically costs around JPY 1,500.
This may be a convenient option if several participants are traveling together, or if you miss the Showa Bus.
If no taxi is available in front of the station, you can also call Susenji Taxi, a local taxi company serving Kyudai-Gakkentoshi Station and Kyushu University, at 0120-001-044.
(3) Alternative: Direct Nishitetsu Bus from Hakata or Tenjin
There is also a direct Nishitetsu Bus [K] from Hakata and Tenjin to Ito Campus. No transfer is required.
From Hakata, the bus departs from Hakata Station Bus Stop A. From Tenjin, it can be taken from Tenjin Solaria Stage. Get off at Kyudai Big Orange.
Although this route is convenient because no transfer is required, buses can be crowded during the commuting hours, and a seat is not always available. Travel time can also be affected by traffic.
Meeting rooms in Ito Campus (on Sep 30 and Oct 2)
Please come to Room 2204 on the second floor of Center Zone 2. Rooms 2203 and 2207 are also reserved for the meeting.
