Tours

Due to the limited time windows for tours for the shortened 1-week long program this year, maybe only some of the tour options listed below will actually be offered. Please watch for updates here with possible online polling to collect level of interests for the various options to consolidate the tours.  

B33 Quantum Devices and ATLAS ITk Pixel Upgrade 

Building 33 hosts several instrumentation projects including a superconducting Qubits setup and detector construction assemblies in clean room: such as superCDMS module fabrication and ATLAS ITk pixel upgrade activities for HL-LHC.  

 

Klystron Gallery

Klystrons as far as the eye can see generate the microwaves which power the SLAC linac. A stop at the Visitor’s Gallery along the two mile accelerator, shows the critical linac components, explains their workings, and provides a spectacular visual experience. A “must-see” at SLAC. KIPAC Visualization Lab

Whether it is Terabytes of simulation output or experimental data, KIPAC researchers exploit modern visualization techniques to extract the maximum amount of information from their data. More often than not that means to write new tools at the cutting edge of scientific visualization. This work is done in the specially constructed Schwob Computing and Information Center. Read more...
