Description
A main goal for the proposed FCC-ee, and subsequently a benchmark for evaluating proposed detector concepts, is the ability to perform high-resolution (PI) Particle Identification. The proposed high granularity CLD (CLIC-like detector) concept for the FCC, while having precision vertex detection capacities and optimization towards particle flow, which render it an attractive candidate for implementation, does not have dedicated PI components. The addition of an ARC (Array of RICH Cells) tracker outside of the CLD’s outer tracker is being studied as a possible solution to resolve this lack of PI capacity. In this study, we analyzed energy resolutions of single photon and single electron particle event simulations to determine how extra material from an additional ARC component impacts the ECAL in the CLD. We found that the addition of an ARC component has little impact on CLD Si-W ECAL energy resolution.
