Description

The last decade has seen tremendous progress in our ability to study jets and their substructure at the LHC. However, one is often left wishing that new theoretical and experimental techniques could be applied in the clean environment of an e+e- collider. Remarkably, this has recently become possible using archival data from the ALEPH experiment. In this talk I will present the first measurement of the energy-energy correlator observable using archival ALEPH data. I will discuss the physics of this observable, and highlight aspects where the theoretical description can be improved. I will also describe broader goals for the re-analysis of ALEPH data, and its interplay with the LHC program.
