Description
The discovery of the Higgs boson in 2012 at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) marked a significant milestone in particle physics. While we have conclusive evidence that the Higgs mass generation mechanism is responsible for the masses of the heaviest quarks and leptons (bottom, top, tau), it has not yet been confirmed for the lighter elementary fermions. My work focuses on probing the Higgs-Charm Yukawa coupling, which is a critical test for this mechanism of mass generation. Initially considered an unrealistic endeavor at the outset of the LHC, advancements in analysis methods are making this goal increasingly attainable. The primary challenge lies in the large uncertainties in modeling background processes, particularly the production of vector bosons in conjunction with heavy-flavor jets (V+HF). To address this, precision measurements of these processes are necessary to improve our understanding of the perturbative and non-perturbative QCD processes involved. In this seminar, I will present the latest advancements in Higgs couplings determination and the precision measurements of V+HF processes.
