Our current understanding of nature at the most fundamental level is extremely accurate, yet incomplete. At the microscopic level, the best theory we have, which passes with no significant tension all available experimental tests, seems to require an uncomfortable fine-tuning of its parameter to reproduce the observed world. On cosmological scales one-third of the energy density of our universe is contained in some unknown form of matter. I will discuss how data coming from various experimental sources shape our current understanding of these problems. With the new decade promising a wealth of new experimental information, a joint effort of theory and experiments is required to expand our knowledge into uncharted territory.
