DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Benjamin Rosser (University of Chicago)\n\nMuon coll
iders have recently emerged as an exciting option to access the 10 TeV ene
rgy scale. However\, significant research and development in both accelera
tor and detector design is required to address the fundamental challenge t
hat muons are unstable. One of the main challenges for the detector is to
accurately identify charged particle tracks in the presence of the enormou
s beam-induced background (BIB) from the decay of muons in the colliding b
eams. In this talk\, I'll give a brief introduction to tracking at collide
rs\, discuss the current state of the art\, and describe the different app
roaches currently being studied by the ATLAS experiment as options for tra
cking in the busy collision environment of the High Luminosity LHC. I'll t
hen give an overview of ongoing work studying next-generation tracker desi
gns and tracking algorithms for the even busier collision environment of a
future 10 TeV muon collider\, and discuss how this will be essential to r
ealizing the physics goals of such a machine.\n \nhttps://stanford.zoom.u
